Border Roads Organisation is facing a huge shortage of officers as 593 posts out of the authorised strength of 1,899 lying vacant.

In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, Defence Minister A K Antony today said 1,306 posts of officers are occupied. Out of the 593 vacant posts, 66 are in the units which have either not been raised or against posts not upgraded yet.
The actual deficiency of officers thus is 527, he said.
"Requisitions for filling up of the vacant direct recruitment posts are regularly sent to UPSC, the recruiting agency for such posts," Antony said.
