अदिति भी अद्वितीय: ओलंपिक में हारकर भी रचा इतिहास, मामूली अंतर से पदक से चूकीं

Add as a preferredओलंपिक में सर्वश्रेष्ठ प्रदर्शन करने वाली भारतीय गोल्फर अदिति अशोक पदक से मामूली अंतर से चूक गईं और खराब मौसम से प्रभावित चौथे दौर में तीन अंडर 68 का स्कोर करके चौथे स्थान पर रहीं। अदिति का कुल स्कोर 15 अंडर 269 रहा और वह दो स्ट्रोक्स से चूक गईं। ओलंपिक में ऐतिहासिक पदक के करीब पहुंची अदिति ने सुबह दूसरे नंबर से शुरुआत की थी लेकिन वह पिछड़ गई। सौ बरस बाद गोल्फ की वापसी वाले रियो ओलंपिक में 41वें स्थान पर रही अदिति ने हालांकि आशातीत प्रदर्शन किया है।
आखिरी दौर में उन्होंने पांचवें, छठे, आठवें, 13वें और 14वें होल पर बर्डी लगाया और नौवें व 11वें होल पर बोगी किए। दुनिया की नंबर एक गोल्फर नेली कोर्डा ने दो अंडर 69 के साथ 17 अंडर कुल स्कोर करके स्वर्ण पदक जीता। जापान की मोने इनामी और न्यूजीलैंड की लीडिया को के बीच रजत पदक के लिए प्लेऑफ खेला गया जिसमें इनामी ने बाजी मारी। न्यूजीलैंड की को ने रियो ओलंपिक में भी रजत पदक जीता था। तूफान के कारण कुछ समय खेल बाधित रहा जब 16 होल पूरे हो चुके थे।
इस बीच काफी ड्रामा देखा गया कि यह दौर पूरा होगा या नहीं लेकिन मौसम ठीक होने के बाद खेल बहाल हुआ। अगर खेल नहीं होता तो अदिति को रजत पदक मिलता क्योंकि वह तीन दौर के बाद कोर्डा के बाद दूसरे स्थान पर थी। अदिति पूरे समय पदक की दौड़ में थी लेकिन दो बोगी से वह को से पीछे रह गई जिन्होंने आखिरी दौर में नौ बर्डी लगाए तीन ही ड्रॉप शॉट खेले। उन्होंने उम्मीद जताई कि उनके प्रदर्शन से लोगों की इस खेल में रुचि बढे़गी जिसे अभी तक अभिजात्य वर्ग का खेल माना जाता रहा है। भारत की दीक्षा डागर संयुक्त 50वें स्थान पर रही जिन्होंने आखिरी दौर में एक अंडर 70 और कुल छह ओवर 290 स्कोर किया ।
