केरल के मुख्यमंत्री पिनरई विजयन ने कहा कि वायनाड से चुनाव लड़कर राहुल लेफ्ट को चुनौती देने आ रहे हैं। वायनाड 20 लोकसभा सीटों में से एक है और इसे अलग तरह से देखने की आवश्यकता नहीं है। हम राहुल गांधी से लड़ेंगे। उन्हें ऐसी सीट से लड़ना चाहिए था जहां से भाजपा लड़ रही है, ये लेफ्ट के खिलाफ लड़ाई है।
वहीं, भाकपा (एम) के पूर्व महासचिव प्रकाश करात ने भी इस पर कड़ी प्रतिक्रिया दी है। उन्होंने कहा कि केरल में राहुल गांधी की उम्मीदवारी का मतलब है कि कांग्रेस यहां सीधे वामदल को निशाना बना रही है। ये फैसला कांग्रेस के उस घोषणा के उलट है जिसमें उसने भाजपा के खिलाफ लड़ने की बात कही थी, केरल में सिर्फ एलडीएफ ही भाजपा के खिलाफ लड़ रही है।
सीपीएम के महासचिव सीताराम येचुरी ने कहा- हमारा साफ मानना है कि यह चुनाव बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है, इसमें फैसला होगा कि धर्मनिरपेक्ष लोकतंत्र जिंदा रहेगा या नहीं, भाजपा को हटाना हमारी प्राथमिकता है।Prakash Karat, CPI(M) ex-General Secy: To pick a candidate like Rahul Gandhi against Left means that Congress is going to target the Left in Kerala.
