कोहली टेस्ट में पिछली 13 पारियों से अर्धशतक नहीं लगा पाए हैं। ऑस्ट्रेलिया के खिलाफ मौजूदा बॉर्डर-गावस्कर ट्रॉफी में उन्होंने अब तक 44, 20 और 12 रन की पारियां खेली हैं। कोहली ने टेस्ट में पिछला शतक नवंबर 2019 में बांग्लादेश के खिलाफ ईडन गार्डन में लगाया था।

2022 एशिया कप के बाद से कोहली व्हाइट बॉल क्रिकेट में तो नियमित तौर पर रन बना रहे हैं, लेकिन टेस्ट में कोहली पिछले काफी समय से कुछ खास नहीं कर पाए हैं। इसी को लेकर आइसलैंड क्रिकेट ने निशाना साधा है। हालांकि, उन्हें भारतीय फैंस की ओर से भी करारा जवाब मिला है।

इसके बाद से वह इस फॉर्मेट में रन के लिए जूझते दिखे हैं। आइसलैंड ने अपने ट्वीट में इसी चीज को दर्शाया है। उन्होंने लिखा- यह आंकड़ा कई भारतीय फैंस को खुश नहीं करेगा, लेकिन विराट कोहली के पिछले शतक (2019) के बाद से अब तक 23 टेस्ट हो चुके हैं। कितना लंबा इंतजार करना बहुत लंबा इंतजार होता है?

फैंस ने दिया करारा जवाब
हालांकि, आइसलैंड क्रिकेट के इस ट्वीट के बाद कोहली के फैंस भी मैदान में उतर गए। सहज सिंह नाम के एक सोशल मीडिया यूजर ने लिखा- मुझे लगता है कि पिछले शतक के बाद से सिर्फ एक साल गुजरा है। 2020 और 2021 का आधा हिस्सा कोविड में ही बीत गया। जब एक खिलाड़ी के पास कोहली जितने शतक हों तो कम से कम एक और साल के लिए उन्हें अकेले छोड़ देना चाहिए।

He is coming back to form format by format. He was already back and yet looked out of sorts in 2 odis before hitting 3 centuries later.

Spin had been his issue of late across formats and his 44(83) and 21(30) were signs he has begun combatting it.
Hundreds alone cannot define a batter. Consistent run-making, sans hundreds, is equally creditworthy if not more. In the case of Kohli, he is being rewarded until eternity despite an elongated dry run as a reward for some sterling performances in the past. His name is sacrosanct.
