The Adhyapak Sanwida Shikshak Sanyukta Morcha, which is staging an agitation in Madhya Pradesh to press for equal work equal pay and other demands, will conduct a Shiksha Mahakumbh -- on January 13 -- which is likely to be attended by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
“The Mahakumbh was earlier scheduled to be a three-day affair commencing tomorrow,” Morcha President Murlidhar Patidar said in a statement issued today.
Over a period of three days, the agitators'' representatives met Mr Chouhan thrice and the latter
“assured” that the agitators'' appropriate demands will be met.
However, the Chief Minister pointed out that it is not possible to meet the equal work equal pay demand at one go but the regime will put in place a system so that this demand is eventually fulfilled to a considerable extent.
At the Mahakumbh, Mr Chouhan will be urged to merge shikshakarmis (education workers) with the Education Department.
